Friends; they are everywhere. True friends; there are a few.

But.. What does being in a friendship mean actually? How is someone regarded as a 'good' friend? Based on what values, what scale? Are you being a good friend to me? And have i been a good friend to you?

Well, I think i do? Come to thinking of it, I try my best to motivate and be supportive (whether it works or not that is another question). Basically, I was there for you. I know you do too and you have no idea how thankful i am, more than glad. It is always good to know that there's someone out there when you're in times of troubles. Thank you for being there for me :)

But sometimes when i am sitting alone, staring at the ceiling, i cannot help but pounder about everything. Am i appreciated, same goes to my honesty? Truth or lie? Is this the whole story? Am i regarded as the 'bad person'? Unjust; you or I? Mind games everywhere; am i just a phase?

On the contrary, who am i to tell you your faults? Who am i to rate your doings right or wrong? Who am i to express my thoughts on you? There are two sides to every coin, how could i decide anything based on one side of the story? And with all these, am i still being a 'good' friend? Complicated much.

There are too many questions in life to be answered but not all would be answered or maybe there is no answer to any of these. But no matter what our differences and issues are, at the end of the day we have each others back.

Do you guys still remember what we have or used to have? You all mean something to me and i love you guys ♥

Honestly, all i want is everyone to be happy...

Growing Up & Out: Dealing with Changing Social Circles

Growing up, we all grew out of clothes and shoes so quickly that we probably did not get to wear all of the cute stuff our parents got us when we were newborns. That favorite pair of sandals you had in the 5th grade were exposed to the world only twice before your feet grew another size and a half.

We also grew out of ideas as we aged – maybe you remember the day you realized that your mom was a real live person and not just a mom. I surely remember it!

Well, like we grow out of clothes, sometimes we grow out of people, too. That may sound like a bad thing to say, but it’s true. In middle school you may have grown out of the group of friends you had been with since preschool. After high school, you may have grown out of your friends from home and moved on to friends that you met at college. It’s perfectly natural as we get older… promise!

At this point in my college career, my friends have shifted from the people I met my first semester to the people in my classes. For the last 2 years, I have had the same group of people in class, so we were bound to become friends at some point. It’s a different type of friend circle, too – it’s less “Hey, let’s hang and watch trash TV” and more “Let’s go to lunch and talk about life and stuff”. So weird, but I like it.

Your friends may not “get” it, your family might not understand why you haven’t talked about so-and-so in a while, but rest assured that your itch for a change is not nutty. At a certain point in your life, you may want to surround yourself with people who are moving forward in the same direction as you. Doing something, if you will.

That phrase, “You are what you eat.” is similar to “You are who you surround yourself with.” If you eat nothing but junk food and candy, your body will not be very happy. If you surround yourself with people who are not supporting you in doing what you want to do or being who you want to be, deep down, you will not be happy.

If you never study for a test in a subject you are not the best in, you won’t get the results you want. But if you put in time and effort to study, you’re more likely to make a grade you’re happy with. Right? Similarly, if you don’t work to surround yourself with people that will help you and believe in you, it can be difficult to grow as a person.

Overall, life is so much easier (and more enjoyable) when you are surrounded by the people who don’t weigh you down, and who inspire you to be the best person you can. So, while your lifelong friends may be awesome, if they aren’t helping you towards being the absolute best person you can be, it may be time to re-think your surroundings.

And if all else fails, remember what our girl LC said on The Hills, “… at this point I would so much rather have, like, a few good friends than a lot of fake friends.” Preach.

I am finally done with all papers and now i can do whatever i want without guilt bugging me every 5 seconds. Even sleeping was felt like a waste of time. It was crazy i tell you. All exams are. It is one thing i will never adapt to. I would rate the overall as meh meh but the most stupid thing happened during my endo paper where i omitted a whole page of questions because i didnt know there was anything at the back page! When i knew it, it was already too late! TOO LATE! ='(((

Now, i need to live with the biggest regret of my life. I almost cried on the spot but then i had MCQ next so i tried to control my emotions! I was constantly swallowing a mix of tears, blood and bile at each questions while constantly tell myself it is ok but you know what IT IS NOT FUCKING OK! At that point, i literally hated myself; HATED! The worst part is i didnt even get the chance to attempt. If i tried doing it and got it wrong then i would felt as bad because AT LEAST I TRIED! But no.. I failed myself. Plus i had another paper the next day and so the revision after that was screwed up too because i couldn't focus at all. No words can fully described how i felt or feel when i am typing this.

It felt like every organ in my body was
rejecting itself and every part of me

was dying, rotting inside out.

I wanted to scream but i had no voice.

I was in pain, agony and full of remorse.

I was breathing but i felt like i was suffocating, hyperventilating for more air.

I was battling with myself.

It seems like it was just yesterday we, a bunch of bruland breeds, left for studies together and from Taylor's, one by one left and now it is his turn. So saddd lahh.. Who am i gonna find when i am all alone in hostel, when i feel like watching a movie and jalan jalan. Sighhh such a heart break ='(

We may not be very close but he has been a really good friend. We knew each other since Form 1 and we witness each other's metamorphosis. Knowing the fact that we really might not be able to see each other anymore is just plain sad. I am holding tears, swallowing bile.

Yahh.. We lost at semi and landed at 3rd.
It was very close game; intense.
We are as good as they are and equally strong; actually i think we are better..
Just that 'luck' wasnt at our side that night.
I was pretty down for almost two days when we lost.
That night i let my emotion take over control; my only regret and i really need to work on that!
My faith and hope was high that night; they say the higher you aim, the harder you fall and damn they are right!
Even at the very last set with us scoring 10 points below them, who was already at game point, i thought we would still win; scoring 10 points consecutively.
Naive? Yahh maybe..
Anyway im ok now. Thanks to all those love and support and comforting words everyone gave.

Dang! My circadian rhythm is so messed uppp!

It was the worst scaling i had ever done! Worst of the worst! The hurts like shiiiiiiiiiit! Throughout the whole process, i was tasting blood and i can still taste blood 10minutes after the whole thing. Fucktard bitch, you're hurting me! And i told you that it fucking hurts but noooo, you still carry on with those man hand of yours. Are you trying to kill me?!! What the hell is wrong with you.. TESTOSTERONE OVERLOAD?!! You dont have to be so rough and so aggressive. Caumahaiii

She didnt even care about how her patients feel and i think all she was thinking was how fast she wants to get it over with in the speed of light so that she can go fuck. Right now, i can see tiny blood clots in between my teeth and gum. It was really bad! I am not making any of these up! Nada! She is seriously fucking horribleeeeee!

To Dr testosterone overload fucktard bitch, you are a horrible dentist. I can literally see how i could die in your man hands! You are one selfish bitch who do not care about how the patient feel. Ever since i was young, i always fell down. I seriously have no idea why am i always so prone to trip. Once, i tripped and fell because there was a drain in front of me. Wokay actually, that was when i was looking at some guy in the basketball court and didnt notice the drain. Shameless eh..tehehe. But you know what, the guy behind me didnt help me up but just stared at me and walked away. Wtf.. Hey man, i was in pain and i was bleeding like a broken pipe!

There are more of these stories but you get it.. i fell down countlessly! Not joking!

So that day at the beach, it was nonetheless =( It was pretty stupid actually. To be specific, I FELL BECAUSE OF MY LOVE TO CAMWHORE! Lame, i know but true!

I didnt see this huge, gigantic rock in front of me.. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! And so i tripped when i was chasing my sister to take picture with me and luckily i didnt fall straight on my face! You should know that it wasnt sand that i could be planking on but tar! Yeapp those rough tar surface just like the road. I could lose my nose just like that *snap* but thank god my sisters caught me and i just scratched both my legs.

Yeap, results were out today at 4pm. I couldnt find it when i checked for it at 7pm and thus for a second there, i thought i failed.

The result is alright. I know i should be happy but i really cant feel the happiness and the need to jump with joy. I'm not trying to brag or whatsoever.. Just that i have my own expectations to reach. I know i can do much better and imagine the difference it would made! But i am still glad and contented that i pass because back then, there was a moment where i doubted myself...

And finally im done with my EOS! LIKE FINALLY FINALLY FINALLYYY!!!! Of all papers, today's (immuno) was the toughest! I couldnt do more than half of the questions in MEQ! Oh ya.. look at that! We have MEQ! Do other uni got it?! NO! (Well, so far i have not heard others having it)

Let me give you a scope of what it is like.. So in MEQ, for each questions there is a time limit. So within that time, you have to finish answering all the questions of that part and when time's up, a buzzer/bell rings and then you place your answer into an envelope. After that, if you wish to change your answers, you are not allowed to do so. So during MEQ, you have to act fast, think fast and have the answers at the tip of your fingers!

So far i managed to finish MEQ questions within the time given so it is still alright for me..

Anyway, sem 4 is seriously like no other sem. Imagine during that 2 weeks study break, besides finishing 150 lecture notes, we still have have to rush our reports and portfolios. The never ending stress we are under! And from what i heard, pharmacy in other uni (lets not mention which) only have 4 modules..Whattt?!! We're having DOUBLE what they have! We're having 8! That is the number of two semester modules for them @##$%^@$&*

You guys have no idea what we have gone through in this hell-like sem! When i say hell-like, i am not joking! Dont say you understand because i swear to god, compared to pharmacy students in other uni, we are seriously legendary for making till this far and with all the bearing and endurance, we can climb the Mt. Olympian!

Life is so unfair.

Anywayyyy i am so so so so gladddd that everything is over. For the time being, just pray all will be fine! And im going home soon! Yayyyy! Oh home..how much i miss you!

The story about Chris Medina and his fiancée made me realised that anything could go wrong. There is no such thing as guarantee or confirm in life. Now you see them but the next thing you know, they're gone.

Life is scary; it is like a game except you dont know the rules and as the matter of fact, there are no rules! But if we constantly live in fear, we're limiting ourselves and wont that be a shame.

We always took everything for granted! How many actually thank life for everything they had gone through? How many actually appreciate life, not only during good times but also the bad times? I bet it is not even close to half the people on globe!

Let's admit it. We are afraid to die. Why? Because life is too full of regrets. Noone wants to leave earth with unfinished business and full of regrets. How sad would it be if you leave knowing that you did not live life to the fullest.

'Carpe Diem' means seize the day. I got to know it when i was in SAM. It was actually from a movie, Dead Poet's Society. It was about a teacher teaching the students to live life to the fullest; live like you are dying. From there, i started learning to be grateful. But people tends to forget and then just go on with their selfish, greedy, ungrateful nature, including I. We can be more than we can be. I try to get out of my comfort zone and do more than i think i can; at least i try right.

What matters the most is at the end of each day, know you have did the day well.

We were not sure of the roads to pavillion but we, strong women, listened to our instincts and got lost.

Let me repeat: WE WERE LOST!

And mich didnt bring her GPS because like i said, instincts....HAHA

After some help from bf and mich's friend and many many many trials and errors, we finally reached and start breathing again.

We wanted to go Le Brodega for dinner but it was very packed until the whole place looked like it was going to explode -.-

So we decided on this restaurant whose name i cant remember and fyi it is not because my Omega Memo is not working but because i seriously did not pay attention to its signboard or the menu cover or whatsoever.

After dinner, it was starbucks. And i always order my usual: Jave chip frappucino. Awesomeee ♥

Hello comrades.

Every new year, i always create a list of new year's resolutions, which in case you wonder, i always never managed to achieve. But.. hey, life's full of hope and nothing is going to stop me from reaching the stars ;)

After all, quote Oprah, "Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right again." Yayyy to that!

Ok, straight to the point. This year i am going to keep my resolutions short, simple and achievable. Nothing beyond my strength or abilities or the norm. Drum roll please..

2011 New Year's resolutions

#1- ~~Must~~ Try to attend all lectures even it means sleeping/day-dreaming in the class. But if the lecture is pretty pointless then forget about it! Good idea righttt hehe

#2- Finish my Omega and my Vitamin Bco. For the sake of better memory and body, Mustttt!

Hehe note the word 'Memo' (Memory!)

#3- Cut down junk food. Urghh they make me sick sometimes -.-

#4- Be a better person! Seriously! I will try to see the good in everyone. Note: TRY!

#5- Take one thing at a time and dont stress myself out, even though this semester is not doubt going to be hectic.

#6- Relax.. Chill.. Breathe.. when things got out of control or when they do not go according to planned because i always got so fucking upset when these happens! Ommm...*chants mantra*

#7- Stop turning back for the past but move forward for the future :)

Yeapp i think that's it. Practical early morning tomorrow, gotta stop here.

What i am referring to is my virgin time in Singapore. Hehe after 18 years of not knowing what Singapore is like, i finally got to see it with my own eyes!

The most memorable part of the whole trip is Universal Studio! It was awesomeeee... but you know what sucks the most... i got so fucking dizzy after a ride and then i was unable to play anything else! Urghh FML! Mehh... it's ok ;) I am pretty sure i'll go back one day.... pretty sure!

Harlow. On the contrary to my dead blog, I am very much alive.

Holiday is coming to an end soon and then here comes Sem 4. How fast time flies never cease to amaze me.

My holiday is not as wild as i thought it would not be and i spent it by staying at home 24/7. Despite that, it does not bother me because spending quality times with my loved ones is more important than getting drunk on the beach (i never get drunk on the beach)

I dont want it to come to an end! Everyone loves holiday! Just the word itself has the effect.

I know i will regret saying this but part of me cant wait for schooling days.

No doubt the coming semester will be tougher but at least, i dont feel like i am wasting my time/youth/health/BRAIN CELLS away with every ticking moment!

Oh btw, finally, i have internet at home!!! I was living a cave-like life but that is the past. Yayyyy =D

EOS IS FINALLY OVER!!!

FINALLY , FINALLY

I feel alive again and it feels SO GOOOOOD!

I feel like i am actually BREATHING!!

Freedom never actually taste/breathe/whatever SO GOOOOOD!

Last 4 weeks was HELL and i am not joking!

Some only slept 1/2 hour a day!
(deb, you are seriously crazy!)

caffeine/red bull/chicken essence/~~ephidrine~~ was our drug!

120 notes was our oxygen!

I am glad all these is FINALLY over!

But the ugly truth will be revealed soon..

All the pimples and dark circles better be worth it!

We just finish our exam and

COPD is defined as the progressive and incomplete reversible obstruction of the airway.

Eg. of COPD:

- Chronic bronchitis

- Bronchiolitis

- Bronchiestasis

- Emphysema

Inflammatory mechanism
1. Smoke or other irritants activates the macrophages and the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract
2. These cells will release chemotaxic factors (eg. chemokines and leukotrienes)
3. Other inflammatory cells are recruited from the circulation to the airway
4. The release of fibrogenic factors which stimulate fibroblasts to produce fibrosis
5. Some cells release protease which break downs the connective tissue of lung parenchyma and leads to emphysema
6. Hypersecretion mucus
7. CD8+ cells may play a role in alveolar destruction through induction of apoptosis of type 1 pneumocytes

Severity of COPD depends on the percentage of FEV1 predicted.

Stage 0: At high risk
- chronic symptoms: cough and sputum
- No spirometric abnormalities

Stage 1: Mild COPD
- FEV1/FEC < 70%
- FEV1 ≥ 80%
- At this stage, patients are normally not aware of their abnormal lung function
- Recommended treatment: Short acting bronchodilator PRN

Stage 2: Moderate COPD

- FEV1/FEC < 70%

- 50% ≤ FEV1 <80% predicted
- Shortness of breath typically during exertion
- Recommended treatment: Rehabilitation, Inhaled glucocorticosteroids if significant symptoms and lung function and response, regular treatment with one or more bronchodilators.

Stage 3: Severe COPD

- FEV1/FEC < 70%

- 30% ≤ FEV1 <50% predicted
- Shortness of breath worsen
- Limits daily activities
- Recommended treatment: Rehabilitation, inhaled glucocorticosteroids if significant symptoms and lung function and response, regular treatment with one or more bronchodilators.

Stage 4: Very severe COPD
- FEV1/FEC < 70%
- FEV1 < 30% or FEV1 <50% + chronic respiratory failure
-quality of life is greatly impaire
- exacerbation is potentially life-threatening
- Recommended treatment: Rehabilitation, Inhaled glucocorticosteroids if significant symptoms and lung function and response, regular treatment with one or more bronchodilators, long term oxygen therapy if respiratory failure, treatment of complications, consider surgical options.

Eg. of short acting beta agonist bronchodilators: salbutamol, terbutamine, fenoterol
Eg. of long acting beta agonist bronchodilators: salmeterol, formoterol, arformoterol
Eg. of short acting anti cholinergic: Ipratropium bromide, Oxitropium bromide
Eg. of long acting anti cholinergic: Tiotropium
